Share Your Style #404

Bonjour, mes amis! Bienvenue a Share Your Style #404!! I’m watching a new favorite vlog on YouTube called XO Macenna and she and her fiancé and mother over in Paris right now. Totally excited to see a flea market (brocante) on her channel since Amy and I didn’t get to any when we were there. We missed one by one weekend…. Next time!

I am Barbara Chapman and I’d love it if you’d follow me here on my blog and on any of my other social media sites, too.  Thank you!💜

Well, last weekend I was down in Corsicana, Texas, for an IOOF meeting. Was a good event but I am glad it is over! 😉 My mother-in-law went with me and she prepared the luncheon ~ which is her specialty and heart, really. We enjoyed eating out and an ice cream treat stop at Braum’s down there. I took Gini over to a women’s dress shop called Cato, and we had fun checking out all of the clothing there. I tried on a super cute blue jean jacket but it was too big. I did find a nice deep green long-sleeved shirt for fall and that came home with us. Oh! And we stopped by Buc-Ees in Ennis (about 20 miles north of Corsicana) and we found some fall Buc-Ees t-shirts for the season. I think that makes the 18th Buc-Ees t-shirt I own… 😉 TRUTH!

I’m still working on painting and varnishing the buffet so no new posts yet for you. Still has a cigarette or old wood smell… Might be painting the whole thing. And that’s okay as I like white painted furniture anyway. Just this little update here. 🙂

Well, let’s get to the party!

Share Your Style #403 & a Formal Apology…

Hello, dear friends, and welcome to this week’s Share Your Style #403! For those of you who were here last week, we found out the source of the cigarette smell… My family member is vindicated and I must make a public apology. There was no hidden vaping/smoking involved.

Turns out that the new-to-me buffet must have been from a smoker’s home as it was leaching odors into our home. A combination of really high heat with temps up to 109 F. (111 F. on the heat index) and high humidity, the move from the kitchen to the living room, and two ceiling a/c vents blowing on it caused the whole mess. Made me very sick and caused me to smell smells and accuse this family member of maybe taking up vaping. I have since apologized but I need to “clear the air “with you, too. Please forgive my not trusting this sweet person and thinking the worst…

And I thought the buffet was smoke-free… (think “eye roll!”) Boy, was I wrong!!!

It is now in the garage and in the process of being revarnished and painted inside. If that doesn’t take care of the problem, I’ll have to sell it.

Bummer as I really like the buffet, just not the smoke odors.

But, I love my family more. 🙂 💜

I am Barbara Chapman and I’d love it if you’d follow me here on my blog and on any of my other social media sites, too.  Thank you!💜

So, after all the mad cleaning, washing walls with white vinegar and baking soda (works great for taking off grease!), steaming other walls, trying to figure out why my throat burned, having eyes that were constantly watering, having a house smelled like an ashtray… Washing every object in our spare bedroom/office and cleaning massive amounts of bedding, pillows, etc. around the clock… Plus some carpet cleaning…

It took almost two weeks of wondering WHY the smell was worse in the evening than in the morning… No clue, on my part…

It finally dawned on me that it must be the buffet. As soon as Mr. Ethereal and I moved the buffet outside to begin airing out, the inside of the house became noticeably less stinky! Two days later there was no residual smell in the house. Yeah!

So, with all that, I have documented working on the buffet and some of the house cleaning. Lol, on the bright side ~ most of the fall cleaning is done! 😉 I’ll share that soon… Once I figure out if the buffet gets to stay or go. 😉

Let’s check out this week’s featured posts, shall we?

Share Your Style #402

Welcome to this week’s Share Your Style, dear friends! I’m sorry I didn’t get this up for you yesterday but I’ve been carpet cleaning and washing everything that is fabric based. We had our lovely guest here the weekend before Labor Day, and…

I am Barbara Chapman and I’d love it if you’d follow me here on my blog and on any of my other social media sites, too.  Thank you!💜

French Ethereal: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest

Apparently we have a closet smoker in the family… 🙁 Not happy! Anyway, we are having to steam walls, ceilings, and I just think how I hope I don’t have to repaint over what I have just painted this past year, plus the previous years. I don’t have the strength (or time!).

Anyway, this is why I haven’t been very prompt the past couple of weeks (and when we picked up the new truck). But the house is getting better. 🙂 Might be getting new carpeting sooner rather than later. Will keep you updated!

Now let’s get this party started!

.

Here’s what I shared this past week at French Ethereal…

Wish she lived closer…

I do want to put together some fall posts, it’s just getting them done. 😉 Let’s look at what you’ve done, now…

I am back painting in the house after Mr. Ethereal and I finished up fixing Gramma’s sprinklers, planting six new Texas sage/barometer bushes, and running drip irrigation lines for those plants out in her front flower bed. This was accomplished over the past three or four weekends and we are glad to have that project behind us! It’s just too hot to play outdoors at the moment, lol.

Share Your Style #396

Welcome to this week’s Share Your Style #396, dear friends! I am sooo sorry that I did not get Share Your Style out on Wednesday. I am getting used to my husband coming home from work at a “normal” time, and I just really forgot! I am back painting in the house again, and it’s really hot and humid this week, as it is across much of America, so there’s my excuse, friends.

Share Your Style #395

Hello y’all and welcome to this week’s Share Your Style #395! Summer heat has arrived and Amazon Prime Days (in case you haven’t heard, lol!). Since we all need a bit of cooling off, let’s check out this week’s cool features… 😉

I am Barbara Chapman and I’d love it if you’d follow me here on my blog and on any of my other social media sites, too.  Thank you!💜

French Ethereal: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest

Oh, my goodness the weather has turned up!!! The furnace is going this afternoon and I don’t think our a/c has turned off since noon. It’s set at 78 degrees, too. Remember the good old days when we could set it at 72 degrees and that was the norm??

Mr. Ethereal and I have spent the past two weekends over at my mother-in-law’s fixing her sprinkler pipes in ground and finally getting to plant five Texas sage bushes (Barometer bush) for her. You should have seen the nasty roots winding around her sprinkler water pipes! It took Hubby literally 18-19 hours over two days to remove the set of HUGE roots from a crepe myrtle tree right up against the corner of her house. I know that tree is going to shock but it had to be done. Well, Gini’s pipes are redone and the plants are in. Gramma just needs to water daily in this nasty heat!

Let’s see what wonderful cool features we have this week!

Here’s what I shared this past week at French Ethereal…

.

And here are this week’s featured posts…
