This past week I’ve been over to McKinney with my mother- and sister-in-law visiting a friend of Jodi’s who moved there back about 20 years ago. Gini and I went over to the City of McKinney’s Vital Statistics building and happily found a microfiche of her grandfather and grandmother’s marriage license from 1897!

On Friday evening, we went to a Texas Rangers’ game down in Arlington. They ended up losing but we enjoyed getting out and trying some ballpark foods and listening to the crowds and announcer, and enjoying the ballgame live.

Saturday was a workday and Gini, Jodi and Corey (my nephew, who flew in on Friday morning) drove over to Farmersville to watch an IOOF and a group of local re-enactors honoring of an 1812 soldier from the area. Because of the busy week, I didn’t go but I would have enjoyed the ceremony. I slept all Saturday afternoon.

My mother-in-law Gini, sister-in-law Jodi and hubby Charles
Corey showing off his perfect pizza!

Sunday we enjoyed baking homemade pizzas out in the Ooni and then we worked on a satin banner project Gini is making for a future IOOF ceremony.

This banner will have a purple backing and other images placed around it and wording at the top and bottom. Should be neat when it is all done!

Since Monday, I’ve been down with a cold or Covid-type feeling illness… If it is Covid related, two days on, the vaccine is beating it down and I am feeling better today. ๐Ÿ™‚

Happily this week I have some news on our new garden shed! I received a text this week from Wolf Valley Buildings.com wanting to schedule our shed’s arrival, so… Now it’s all about prepping the site and removing all the junk in that area, including the current shed.

Next, as you will see here, I finished the painting in our master bedroom and bathroom. What a big project! As any of you painters out there know, it was about 100 hours from start to finish for the three areas of commode, bathroom and the 15′ x 17′ bedroom with 14′ ceilings at the peak. The crown moulding had never been painted in any of the areas and was put up with just original primer on it, so that all needed special attention. I didn’t get rid of the “alligatoring” from humidity like I should have in the bathroom area, but will another time. I wanted to finish before my mother-in-law and sister-in-law arrived. They are here now and the bedroom was finished this Friday.

So now it’s back to focusing on the garden with prep for the garden shed!… :๐Ÿ’œ

Here’s what I shared this past week at French Ethereal…

A Star-Spangled Blue Jean Recycle Placemat Project ~ a fun idea I’ve had waiting for this pair of jeans to finally wear out in order to make!

My goodness, friends! This has been a nice two weeks off from school (summer vacation), enjoying the pretty mountainside around Pigeon Forge, Tennessee and our nephew and new niece’s wedding, and just taking a break from writing…

Other than the time we were moving out of our last house (August 2015) and I had nothing to write about (or so I thought…), I have taken very few breaks off from blogging and this was a nice break. I was originally just going to take time off from Share Your Style but it turned into a break from everything! I feel refreshed and ready to visit and share new ideas again with you! ๐Ÿ’œ

What have I been doing: Painting our master bedroom is almost completed… I am finishing up the ceiling today and am just waiting for the last of Coat 1 to dry so I can stand down below and roll a light second coat over the whole thing (ugh!). Definitely NOT professionally spray painted! WHY the last owners chose to paint EVERY ceiling coffee brown… The crown moulding and walls turned out beautifully. After almost 30 years of painting rooms, I’m getting pretty good at it. ๐Ÿ˜‰

And I am back in the Craft Room (which I have really yet to share) working on making it happy! So, I’ll be sharing those posts soon. ๐Ÿ™‚ I am excited to share all these summer inspired posts with you…

Here’s what I shared this past week at French Ethereal…

Cutting in around the commode ~ first with Kilz and now with Valspar Comet Dust, a pale soft grey.

Happy Cinco de Mayo!

And a Happy Mother’s Day this coming Sunday!! Hopefully this is my last week at home on leave for a broken tailbone (four weeks total). It feels weird to be home as I feel like I should be at work… While home I have relaxed and taken it easy (the first couple of weeks I was really careful to not move wrong and to not sit for hours, per doctor’s instructions), walked progressively farther and longer as things felt better/less painful, done some gardening, and now some painting in our master bathroom.

Figured it was good to try and get back to normal since this is “week six” since the accident. Tailbone feels good and doesn’t hurt to touch, so I should be released back to normal work at my appointment this Friday.

Actually, there are only three more weeks of school for this 2020-2021 school year, and next year I will be working with a Pre-K class. I was sad to be leaving PABS at first, but now I am kind of excited for the upcoming school year. A new challenge and a new school. So that will be something fun to look forward to this next school year!

Meanwhile, we received the permit to move our fence! We can only move it out by 3 feet, since the curve of our property line at its closest is 3′ away from the current fence, but it will still add more visual space to the sideyard and 240 sq. feet to the yard for gardening… Time to get digging post holes!

ย As always, I am glad that you are here…

Can you believe today’s Share Your Style is #300??! That means I have been writing this myself for about 120 posts now. Not bad, even with a few weeks off here and there! Well this week has been a busy one for me with: a visit to my original doctor for the tailbone issue, two young surveyors coming from the company recommended to us by friends at noontime today. We have also had our biannual heating/air conditioning check-up this afternoon, plus the same company came out at 5:00p.m. and checked our plumbing for leaks (different group)!!!

I am mostly excited that it looks like our property line is further out towards the street than what showed on the survey we received when we bought the house two years ago. So, yeah!!! We should be able to move the fence out five feet. Keep your fingers crossed and prayers, please! <3

Here’s what I shared this past week at French Ethereal…

I have other posts in the works, but this past week I was slowly finishing things up in the new side garden (being careful to not lift more than 15 lbs./time, and digging lightly). I am also getting things done at home with a light and careful spring cleaning! Much needed after all the dirt that comes inside from myself, Mr. Ethereal and Yoda. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Share Your Style #298

Welcome, friends, to this week’s Share Your Style #298!!! Happy Wednesday to you all!

This link party is for home decor, DIY, crafts, recipes and the like, but you are more than welcome to share any of your family-friendly posts with us all. Please feel free to share this post too and join my small but loyal band of friends. I appreciate you!
As always, I am glad that you are here…

Woowee! I am so sorry about last Wednesday… I should have called off the week before as I knew I was getting my second Covid-19 vaccine last Wednesday morning, but then thought I’d be back in time (and feel well enough to run SYS). Well, at 6:00p.m. I was still in Oklahoma and by 8:00p.m., the time I got home, I was beginning to “freeze.” I had the usual reaction (again) with fever and chills, body aches, head ache and just sleeping hours…

This week, I am good, except during the time between the first and second shots, I was tripped backwards by a student at school, so… I have a broken tailbone (looked like a spiral fracture, but I could be wrong). Now I am out on Worker’s Comp leave! Crazy year…

Anyway, I hope you all had a wonderful Easter!!! He is risen!!! I got no Easter posts out, really. I’ve been in the winter funk for a while and with so many changes at work (plus getting the virus in the fall, and now this injury…), I have been feeling overwhelmed. With this leave, I should have plenty of time to get myself back to “normal.” ๐Ÿ˜‰

Enjoy this week’s features, friends! It’s good to be back… ๐Ÿ™‚
