I have a reservation for us to walk up the Eiffel Tower stairs on Wednesday evening as part of a small guided tour. I am really looking forward to seeing the tower all lit up and twinkling! A YouTuber shared that the lights twinkle at 5 minutes past the hour every hour, so pretty!!! We hope to go to Versailles on Thursday but might just bum around the city instead, saving Versailles for the following week. No reservations yet so we will just see what’s what.

Well, I made it home with the new computer in tow! As I type, it feels good to have this project checked off my list!! 🙂 Mr. Ethereal actually bought me a new MacBook Pro for Christmas but I wasn’t comfortable transferring all the data and applications myself. So… I waited until our summer break!

Unfortunately, the problem I had with the other computer a couple of months ago (not able to pull up the “block pop-up” to add photos… 🙁 I’ll have to contact WordPress again and have them link up to figure out WHY this essential button doesn’t just automatically turn on.

So… with that, SYS is now up but I can’t share any features, including my own.

As I get this fixed, I’ll come back and add in the features, so please do check back!

Thanks for linking up even with the troubles,

Barb 🙂

Happy Summer, y’all!

I have embraced the “y’all!” as you can see! 😉 And this week I got two posts out for you!! It was a tiny bit cooler this past weekend, so Hubby and I finished up: the shed (him) and I worked on digging more holes in the newest flowerbed. The yard is coming along as you will see in the attached post.

Can you believe it is summertime? We have been having summer weather for 3 or 4 weeks now, hovering between 95-105 degrees. Feels great when it is only 92 degrees, let me tell you. 🙂 And we are at SYS #350 this week! I came in as a host back at #173 in September 2017, not knowing that by the following spring, I’d be solo. At first it was scary, but now I’m so used to writing it, it’s just some “copy and paste” from week to week, though I bet there are ways to make it even easier.

I love looking at what everyone posts, and that leads me to this next thought…

Well, let’s get to our features, shall we?!!

We have a full plate of fun features for you from patriotic posts, to chickens at a flea market, personal thoughts and ambitions, art, thriftshopping and an auction, plus our usual tablescape and recipe ideas. It’s gonna be a good one!

Here’s what I shared this past week at French Ethereal…

Happy Father’s Day from Daddy’s New Shed ~ and which one we picked to hold all the “stinky” yard things. 😉
Summer Garden Update ~ a look at the new flowerbed in progress and a look at the roses!

Happy Wednesday, dear friends! Hubs and I were out in the heat wave this weekend working on a new shed for the backyard. Yes, you heard correctly, #2, only this one is much smaller. (Post coming soon!) I have been writing posts today but the one I want to share isn’t quite done. But here’s a little tease of the new shed…

It was really windy when I took this. A wild hair got in the lens’ way!

I went with my mother-in-law to Costco last week and picked up this one for the side yard to house our lawn mower and all of the stinky lawn things, like fertilizers, the weed wacker and gas powered things. We didn’t want them adding their odiferous scents to the really nice shed so this should be a good spot for them AND this will free up space in the garage for Mr. Ethereal to create a bigger, better workshop area!

As we head into summer in just a few days, let’s check out some fun summertime ideas! I’ve linked a few of my own into the party at the bottom, too, if you’d like some more inspiration. So let’s get this party started, shall we?

And here are this week’s featured posts…

Debbie from Debbie-Dabble is back with an summery update from around her home ~ Flowers Planted and a Few New Things. Love the pops of red!
Shelbee of Shelbee on the Edge brings on the heat with this gorgeous dress in her post ~ 4 Style Tips for Dressing Up for Special Events in 2022. This is de rigueur for me since I am looking for easy travel clothing to take to France…
Newcomer Stephanie from Steph Creates – DIY Home & Crafts shared this sweet basket DIY in her first post here at SYS ~ DIY Wood Crate Floral Display with Mini Watering Can. Fun idea!!!
Lynne from Thrifting Wonderland shared this pretty floral post ~
Sunday Flowers in an Italian Bag. Love the super bright colors!!!
Linen Dress in Tulip Fields
Jennifer from Curated by Jennifer shared her fun thrifting find in this post from Holland, Michigan ~ Linen Dress in Tulip Fields. Gorgeous tulips and love the dress, too!
Penny from Penny’s Treasures shared a new-to-me (and maybe you, too!) area of her home in this post ~ Summer Reading Nook in the Studio. You’ve got to check it out! Penny also shared a swaparoo in this post ~ Hand-Me-Down Rug for the Front Porch.

Happy Wednesday, dear friends!

I have had the. best. week prepping for our summer trip to France!! This past weekend, with help from a wonderful email and a bunch of posts from Jeanie of The Marmelade Gypsy blog, I made reservations for a hotel in Paris and an AirBnB in Grenoble. I so appreciate all of your suggestions on what you enjoyed visiting over in France!

Amy and I will have basically a week there; always wish it could be longer but maybe next time. 😉 Well, other than getting those reservations done, I also got our train tickets purchased (to get to Grenoble for my niece’s wedding/Amy’s first cousin) and we are thinking about what all we’d like to do while there.

So, no other posts since last time! But do check out my previous posts. The garden is coming along and I bought another smaller shed this week. The guys at Costco were great and so helpful getting all the pieces out of two HUGE 9′ long boxes, through my SUV’s back window (the back liftgate no longer opens… the life of a 17 1/2 year old car!). I just pulled the last pieces out this afternoon. I drove over to pick up our drills and a bucket of tools from my mother-in-law’s place so I can work on putting parts into each shed panel tomorrow.

With that, let’s get to your featured posts… 😀

And here are this week’s featured posts…

Claire also posted up this yummy entry ~ Homemade Jam Recipes to Try Out.

Well, that’s it for this week, friends! It was a quiet week with the beginning of summer (nothing new) plus my mishap of not being home to get SYS out to you last Wednesday. So, hopefully we will have a lot of fun entries to share with y’all next week…

A Heavenly Birthday Tea + Share Your Style #347

Welcome everyone to a fun idea I had this morning… Today would have been my father-in-love Pete’s 82nd birthday and to celebrate his birthday, I made a Victoria Sponge cake and invited my mother-in-love to tea…

Doing things a little differently this week. 🙂

So we are doing things a little differently this week… Since I missed SYS yesterday with working on my mother-in-law’s shed, I thought I’d get SYS out today instead.

It all began about 9am with the idea to bake a cake. This week is also Queen Elizabeth’s 70 Platinum Jubilee, which is how I came to look for a cake recipe in a favorite cookbook, A Time for Tea.

And, no, I didn’t need the baking powder or baking soda. Why they are in the picture? They were just infront of the self-rising flour in the cupboard. Props… 😉

This is a very fast cake to bake (20-25 minutes) and you use 8″ round cake pans.

I ran out of strawberry jam to put in the middle between the layers, but no matter! I popped open the lingonberry jam and mixed the two. Turns out this combination is quite tasty!!

A very simple tea table set with an assortment of teabags.

Gini was happy to come over to celebrate and it made me happy to help her to get through today and to honor my father-in-love.💜

So let’s have a piece of cake and get to our SYS party…

And here are this week’s featured posts…

glass-pulling-class-sculpted-flower-orange-purple
Our first feature this week is from Debbee from Debbee’s Buzz who was able to make something amazing ~ Glass Pulling Class: Flower Sculpting.

Our final feature for this week harkens back to Memorial Day earlier just this week ~ Penny from Penny’s Treasures shared her gorgeous tablescape (and what’s behind) in her post ~

DIY Projects

Working on a Shed for Gramma

Happy Wednesday, friends! Sorry, no Share Your Style tonight. I didn’t bring my computer and we have been building a shed all day.

Hubby went and picked up a small U-Haul this morning just after 7:00am. By 9:00am, he had it loaded with packed boxes which have been on the back patio since New Year’s, a bucket of tools and drills, and a pile of lumber!

My job most of the day? Scrub and clean every last panel and part of our old 7.5’ x 7.5’ shed… But, I am happy to say that Gramma’s new shed (my MIL Gini, btw) is mostly done! It’s almost 6:00pm and Charles is just screwing in the last of the roof bolts and screws. Woot!!! 😊

Hi ho, there!

Now to get the door on… ☺️

Always one.last.thing. 🤣 Anyway, I hope to get Share Your Style up later this evening for you. I will send out a notice when it is up.

Enjoy your evening!

Hugs,

Barb 😊

Happy Wednesday, dear friends!

It feels sooo good to be finishing up the school year. I love being in school with our students everyday ~ I love watching them learn! But, it is good to have a nice long break to recoup and come back fresh again in the fall. I have been running our library’s PE skills fun program all week long for K-5th, which has been a lot of fun. It’s called student teaching-on-the-job! 😉

After the kids went home at noon, I was able to shoot over for my passport appointment at the local post office; I finally got my passport paperwork submitted! Yeah!!! So timely with this week’s featured posts about beautiful tablescapes and weddings… <3 And of course we celebrate and honor those veterans of war who didn’t make it home from the battlefield this weekend. Wear a poppy in their honor.

Well, let’s get to our features, including one from me!

Welcome to another Wednesday Share Your Style, friends!!! I apologize for getting the party up late this evening. I have no excuse other than I got five hours of sleep and it’s the end of the school year. No posts for me with the heavy work outdoors schedule but I will be back writing and sharing what’s new here soon!

I hope you had a wonderful Mother’s Day either for yourself or celebrating with the significant women in your lives. My daugher sent a Tiff’s Treats box of chocolate chip cookies and another of truffles. They are getting eaten sparingly!

Later on Mother’s Day, I was out planting again in the 90 degree heat and thankfully there was a great breeze. The soil is well roto-tilled and now it is just a matter of just digging holes, fertilizing and getting plants in the ground. It was pleasantly comfortable outside, even if hot. All of the plants are doing well with water every morning or every other day, depending. Trying this new strategy this year. A post with the south fence all planted will be coming soon!

Well, this week’s party is all about patriotic crafts, tablescapes and some travel ideas for summer holidays!

Let’s get to the party, shall we?

And here are this week’s featured posts…
