Share Your Style #511

A graphic featuring pink flowers with the text 'Share Your Style' prominently displayed, along with details about a home decor and gardening event happening on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 6 pm CST.

Hello everyone, and welcome to this week’s Share Your Style #511! Did anyone notice in last week’s SYS that I goofed?? I was sooooooo tired from working outdoors in the 110 F./43.3 C. deg. heat on the long weekend before – Hubby had taken two days off to work on the house over four days – I ended up writing “Share Your Style #310, instead of #510. I just saw that when prepping for today’s post, and changed it, but it made me laugh… (roll eyes!). We hope to be done with this remodeling soffit project in a few weeks, then it’s onto tearing up the backyard patio and adding back insulation up in the attic. It’s a marathon, friends! And, it looks like it’s a week celebrating tea in many of this week’s posts. Let’s check out this week’s features… Hugs!

I am Barbara Chapman and I’d love it if you’d follow me here on my blog and on any of my other social media sites, too.  Thank you!๐Ÿ’œ

I’d be remiss if I didn’t say “Rest in Peace, Dolly Parton.” It’ll be hard to forget the day she passed as it is also my sister-in-love, Jodi’s birthday. ๐Ÿ’œย  Dolly was always on the television when I was a young girl growing up in Hawaii. Afternoons, and early weekend evenings, the Johnny Cash Show was on the television (like 4:00 or 5:00pm), then later in the evening, The Glen Campbell Show and Hee-Haw came on. (I think Glen Campbell was on on Sunday nights; Hee-Haw was on Saturdays…) We watched a lot of Hee-Haw growing up! I must have seen her on these shows, or others, and I know I heard her songs on the radio ~ AM radio only back then! None of this FM radio stuff. ;)’

Her belief in God, in Jesus, was refreshing for anyone coming from Hollywood and the entertainment world. She loved everyone, and I admire that about her. I wish I could have met her… But, in a way, we did with all the movies she was in, the songs she wrote and sang (and others sang), and then in these final years, being on social media. Hugs to you Dolly in Heaven! Enjoy meeting up with your husband, Billy Graham, CS Lewis and all those already Home… ๐Ÿ’œย

  1. Barb, thank you for hosting this wonderful party each week. It’s always appreciated. Very sad news about Dolly. My sister sent me a text and asked me if I had heard the news. At the time, I had not. I looked it up, and instantly became sad. May she rest in peace.

    1. Thank you for your thoughts, Stephanie. I feel so overwhelmed this week, and it’s not Dolly’s passing. It’s life… Hope you are doing well, despite what’s been going on. <3

      Hugs,
      Barb ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Good luck with your continued marathon, Barb! Hopefully, you’ve had a bit of break in the weather! It was such sad news about Dolly Parton. She was a unifying force for so many and we need more of those these days! Over the last few days, I’ve heard so many quotes of hers and I’m amazed about the wisdom she spread in kind, thoughtful or silly ways. God welcomed a special one into paradise! Thanks so much for the party!

    1. Laura, thank you for your thoughts… I am tired, and it isn’t just with Dolly’s passing. I hate not knowing what the future holds. I am worried about a major recession and I cannot mentally take losing another house… I don’t know how we would recover as we have no land or somewhere to go. America has out-priced us, and many in our age group. It seems that there is nowhere affordable to move to, that I know of. Texas WAS a good place to be, ten years ago. Sorry to complain but it does feel good to talk with everyone on here! <3

Hope your families are financially secure and can weather the storms,
      Hugs,
      Barb ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. Thank you dear Barb for presenting my journey to Italy. I appreciate that very much. Itยดs a big loss the passing of that wonderful woman and singer and fighter for equal rights for everyone.
    Have a good time

    1. Dolly was such a tiny person but had a big heart. She loved everyone and I really admire that. Be glad you live overseas because here in America right now, there is so much hatred, and a lot of it if fueled by social media and the big media television corporations. I keep feeling if they would all shut up, a lot of the hatred between races and people would die away… I think Europe has it much better in the way Europeans think, you know? I’ve been there, as you know, and stayed (even if it was just a few weeks at a time) to Germany, Holland, to England, to France, and to Mexico. I keep talking with my husband about moving out of the country, but he’s a no go… I just think we’d be away from “the noise.” I wish we had the late 1970’s back where people liked, or at least tolerated, people who were different than them. I’m sorry to vent; I am just tired. ๐Ÿ™‚

      Thanks for listening,
      Hugs,
      Barb

    1. Thank you for your sweet thoughts, Melynda. Tough week over here. I am tired of the political climate, the fighting always going on in social media. Too much noise… Sorry to vent (i’ve vented to everyone this week). I’m worried for our country and how are we to survive if we can’t afford groceries?? I try to grow in my little garden and it is all eaten by critters. I can’t get it right and I am watching other gardeners trying to learn more, better techniques. I have canning jars but am afraid to try to even can peaches… Sounds silly but I’m tired this week.

      Thanks for listening,
      Hugs,
      Barb ๐Ÿ™‚
