Hello friends & Happy Sunday! I am excited to share how our garden shed has cleaned up for the fall season! Mr. Ethereal has been busy reorganizing the storage part of the shed, and I’ve been reorganizing all the fertilizers on my potting bench while also fertilizing plants outside for fall blooms…
If you haven’t seen Mr. Ethereal’s surprise potting bench blogpost from a few years ago, check that out here.

We begin our day here out front with a little tour of the end-of-summer garden. the white angel wing begonias and the pink begonias I have over-wintered the past couple of years. They come back beautifully from year to year!

The potted roses are getting ready for their fall show as they put on more buds. Every plant is soooo happy that the cooler weather is here!

I love to hang a wreath or basket over the shed’s door! This season, I’ve cut apart some new faux sunflowers picked up at Hobby Lobby and other fall blooms gathered over the years.

These are the steps I was interested in copying for our shed. They are the steps in front of Judith Stringham’s garden shed who lived about an hour away here in Texas. I’ve been to a couple of her Christmas sales, which were a lot of fun! ๐ I just found out that Judith passed away in January of this year (I learned this by Googling her name; I had wondered why there were no more blog posts…). Her husband Dave wrote a lovely obituary for Judith. Her blog is still out on the internet, and their home and property are beautiful!
Judith’s Christmas post from 2024 was a beautiful scene for her final post. ๐

Love how this French-style fall wire basket looks!

Come inside, everyone!
Let’s see how Mr. Ethereal has worked on the shed as we finish up this fall… You may remember when we bought this shed that I shared it’s delivery, and later when we installed insulation and then the paneling. If you haven’t seen those posts, I’d love it if you’d check them out. ๐

- Fall in the Potting Shed

Several items need to be finished in this shed build:
- Closing up this cavity with wood planking.
- Finish the painting on this one wall.
- Getting someone to come out and install the electrical from the garage to the shed so we can power lights and the electric heater we run during the winter.
Hubby had me take a photograph of the shed’s item number, in case we ever need it. ๐

#1 — Closing up the wall with a couple of pieces of leftover grooved plywood. Check mark DONE!!!
I asked Charles if he would finish this little project before beginning something new as it has been four years since we worked on the rest of the shed. ๐

My job this week: Finish painting this one wall of the shed. And remove the original window stickers & clean those windows! ;)’ The shed was brought to our property in the summer of 2021, and most of it was insulated and completed that fall on weekends. We just need to finish up. ๐
This summer, we finally donated a bunch of items to a local Boy Scout troop who could use the backpacks, sleeping bags, tents, folding chairs and other items we had stored out here. Amazing how a good clean-out really opened up the shed!

#2 — Finishing the painting on this wall. Check mark DONE! ๐ I worked on painting in here on Monday and Tuesday of last week.
We usually have all of our tall ladders out here, but the 8′ and 12′ ladders are up at the RV currently. Mr. Ethereal will be back later this week working on finishing cleaning the RV roof edges as he takes some time off later this coming week. It will go up for sale once everything is completed.

Finding an electrician is next on the list, as well as finishing installing the purple insulation already cut and ready to go (upper left in photograph above). Always a little more to do, but coming along. ๐

After a lot of mopping, organizing, and cleaning of plastic pots and garden growing-trays, the shelves look pretty tidy. ๐
22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23[g]gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. 24And those who are Christโs have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
Bible Hub, Galatians 5:22-25
On a personal level, I look at how much more patience I have now since raising two children, and then working with students with each of their distinct disabilites and behaviors. Those early days can be sooo trying!
However, I miss my kids from when they were young! We had a lot of fun going on hikes, playing outside and having friends over for lunches, sleepovers, and going on many campouts. I loved watching them grow up. I loved seeing our students as they grasped each concept, no matter how long it took, and watching them grow up, too.
I miss those younger days when life seemed a lot more innocent… ๐ Now my adult children are experiencing these things that we went through… I guess I need to quit watching the news again, like I did when I quit reading the newspaper with its sensational headlines years ago. Life is happier in one’s home when we don’t hear all the “what ifs” and the horrors going on all over this world. ๐

A good cleaning!
My labor cleaning the garden shed is beginning to show real fruit in how pretty the shed is becoming! The windows are bright and clear and shining now. The shelves are tidy, and most of the tools are put in their spots in the small tool chest or are back hanging on the wall.
I have been cleaning my heart, as well. ๐
Finding our way back to a church over the past year has been a real blessing for my soul. Staying in the Word has such a calming effect on one’s soul during troubling times, at least for me.
Mr. Ethereal is much happier being back “in the fold,” too. He quit going to church when our daughter was in junior high, which was 20+ years ago, when work was all-consuming for him. His current job’s work ethic is that everyone goes home after 8 hours of work (more or less). So, Hubby has more time each evening, which is a win!
This fall, he is attending a Bible study for men, and is back re-learning God’s wisdom, teachings, and promises.
He is also very much looking forward to retirement in a couple of years. ๐
The other day, I saw two friends for lunch, one of which led a Bible study I was part of when we lived up in Sanger, Texas, at Wagon Master RV Park & Alpaca Farm. It was really good to be together again with them and share our mutual love for the Lord. โฅ๏ธ
And I’m sorry I haven’t shared much of that journey with you here lately! It has been on my heart to do so. โฅ๏ธ ๐

We still have a way to go with organizing, eliminating things we no longer use or need, and donating more. I am feeling a need to finish photo albums, clear out clutter and things no longer used. It can be hard to get rid of things we have become attached to but it is also very freeing. ๐
Clearing the mind, the home, and the heart are all good things for a greater purpose! For me, it is the freedom to dream, the room in my head to be able to create, and to just have less to worry over.

How about with you?
.
Happy Sunday, y’all,
