Share Your Style #447

.

Happy New Year, everyone! Welcome to the first Share Your Style (#447) of the year. It’s my birthday month, too, and another birthday is in the can, but with that my heart is always with Christmas… Let’s enjoy just a little more, a Christmas afterglow, if you will.

Let’s check out all of this week’s features…

I am Barbara Chapman and I’d love it if you’d follow me here on my blog and on any of my other social media sites, too.  Thank you!๐Ÿ’œ

Southern California Wildfires

I wanted to begin this post with my thoughts and prayers go out to the families and owners who have lost their homes and businesses in the devastating wildfires in Southern California. Living in California for 42 years, it is still a big part of my heart and still home.

I have watched some of the videos put out by Los Angeles news media and others shot by everyday citizens bicycling through with Go-Pro’s on their helmets… Tough days ahead.

However, I want to say, you will pull through this! I found beauty in a garden statue which survived the fire and is now silently “Keeping Watch” as she looks out towards the Pacific Ocean and guards Santa Monica.

She is looking forward instead of back. A good place to be for getting through trials.

I thought, “This family has the first piece of their new home waiting for them.” May God bring everyone affected by these fires peace as they recover and rebuild throughout 2025…

A New Year

This year I plan to finally take a new photograph taken of myself, dear friends! I let my bangs grow out several years ago and I am 9 years older since the above photograph was taken. Let’s do this!!! Hubby just took a photo of me in the kitchen on my birthday (He surprised me with dinner, a cake, and the cutest balloon!). It may do the trick!

So what are your New Year’s Resolutions? I think I am finally ready to come up with some:

  • Work on getting in better shape and getting stronger
  • Try to blog more consistently
  • Keep working around the house getting the outside fixed up and finished as much as we can, while we still can.
  • Try to keep all of the rose bushes healthy. I had to pull out two David Austin “Olivia” rose bushes as they contracted rose rosette disease and so far there is no cure. ๐Ÿ™ All I can do is try and fight the mites with mite control as they such juices from the plants and carry the disease.
  • Grow many more flowers out in the back garden now that the main perennials are in place.

That’s all I can come up with for now. ๐Ÿ™‚

Snow Days!

Since we have a day off from work, Aimee Ellis, who is a FLS teacher at the school where I work, and her boys (my guess!) built this adorable snow girl! I got permission to share this adorable “Rosie” with y’all and added her byline…. Enjoy and post like crazy! You can find Aimee on Instagram at Unfiltered Heart. She has a HUGE heart for children with disabilities. ๐Ÿ’œ

  1. I’m STILL continuing the afterglow, Barb, since I’ve been MIA a bit. I, too, am sick at heart about the California fires. I don’t do resolutions anymore, but have some good ones! And thank you for including our greens-getting day in your features. It was such fun. Happy New Year, my friend. Onward!

  2. Barb, thanks so much for featuring my โ€œChristmas Moorning Tablescape with Toysโ€ฆโ€ Iโ€™m so glad you liked it and Iโ€™m honored to be featured on your website. I hope you had a wonderful Birthday and that your new year is filled with many blessings. -Patty
