We had a couple of days of rain over the past week and just having an inch or so has really perked up all of our plants! How about you? How is your fall garden doing? Our garden beds have enjoyed a second growing season with the advent of cooler weather. Sooo nice to see plants which were really suffering are now really happy…

Well, getting perennials planted in the ground and taking cuttings of existing plants are what I have been doing a lot of this fall, when I have time. So nice that we have had a long fall season with no freezes yet!

Other than that, what all have you been up to? Hopefully you are enjoying good fall weather in your neck of the woods!!

Let’s check out this week’s features…

Here’s what I shared this past week at French Ethereal…

Pumpkins, Pinecones & Cranberries ~ a Fall Centerpiece ~ part of this month’s Pinterest Challenge using cranberries in our recipes, decor or crafts.

And here are this week’s featured posts…

First up is this cutie from Steph Creates ~ DIY Harvest Floral Pumpkin Centerpiece. Love how cute this pumpkin turned out!!! Plus, with Stephanie’s easy-to-follow instructions, you can whip out this fun pumpkin craft in an afternoon.

Our last feature this week is from DeeDee from Clover House who brings us her Front Porch Decor for Fall and Halloween. Stunning!!! And her kitty is pretty cute, too. <3

Honorable Mention

Amber from The Hungry Mountaineer shared her RV trip to Bishop, California in her post about making German-Style Potato Salad with Extra Bacon. I’m sorry that I couldn’t pull in any of her photos because of the writing wanted to come instead, but her recipe looks great! Stop on by to check out Amber’s post and see some of the Eastern Sierra mountain range, part of central California and right next to Nevada (think high desert).

Happy Wednesday evening to you all!! My mother-in-law stopped by as I was prepping for this post, so up a bit later than I’d like, but that’s how things roll around here. ;)’ Last night we had our first night in the high-30’s, and I worked until after dusk getting plants covered and some moved into the big shed/greenhouse. It was a busy couple of hours running a power cord through a window again and making insulation pieces to fit in the vents to keep the cold out, but now the shed is ready for winter. 🙂

So, that’s what’s going on around here lately. I do have a post to share soon with how our garden looks with the new flower beds dug and more perennials and small trees planted. It’s coming along nicely!

Let’s check out this week’s features… It’s all about Halloween/All Hallow’s Eve with some fun and mildly spooky ideas to inspire!! We have a Day of the Dead (Día de Muertos) table display at school surrounded by books which work for the season, and it’s fun to see how this week’s post fits in with that theme, too!

And here are this week’s featured posts…

Happy Wednesday, y’all! Last weekend was BUSY! I drove down to Corsicana, Texas about 2 1/2 hours away for an IOOF State Assembly meeting where I took lots of notes as Secretary. Drove back mid-Saturday afternoon and then returned with my husband to the Denton Blues Festival. The music was terrific, the food was delicious and we made some good money towards next year’s scholarships.

If you’ve never heard of the International Order of Odd Fellows (IOOF; and Rebekahs), it is a service organization a lot like the VFW, the Masonic Lodge and others. Anyway, we worked the Blues Festival again on Sunday until arriving home around 9:00p.m. TIRED hit me today and thankfully our school had its monthly teachers’ meetings in the afternoon, so… Classified staff (everyone who isn’t Administration or a teacher) could leave early and use personal or comp time. I slept for 1 1/2 hours… A great nap! 😀

So, anyway, nothing new except a quick photograph from the Blues Festival… Still working on other posts. <3

One of the first bands which I saw on Saturday evening… Good music!

And here are this week’s featured posts…

A Heavenly Birthday Tea + Share Your Style #347

Welcome everyone to a fun idea I had this morning… Today would have been my father-in-love Pete’s 82nd birthday and to celebrate his birthday, I made a Victoria Sponge cake and invited my mother-in-love to tea…

Doing things a little differently this week. 🙂

So we are doing things a little differently this week… Since I missed SYS yesterday with working on my mother-in-law’s shed, I thought I’d get SYS out today instead.

It all began about 9am with the idea to bake a cake. This week is also Queen Elizabeth’s 70 Platinum Jubilee, which is how I came to look for a cake recipe in a favorite cookbook, A Time for Tea.

And, no, I didn’t need the baking powder or baking soda. Why they are in the picture? They were just infront of the self-rising flour in the cupboard. Props… 😉

This is a very fast cake to bake (20-25 minutes) and you use 8″ round cake pans.

I ran out of strawberry jam to put in the middle between the layers, but no matter! I popped open the lingonberry jam and mixed the two. Turns out this combination is quite tasty!!

A very simple tea table set with an assortment of teabags.

Gini was happy to come over to celebrate and it made me happy to help her to get through today and to honor my father-in-love.💜

So let’s have a piece of cake and get to our SYS party…

And here are this week’s featured posts…

Happy Wednesday to y’all! Funny story, I heard some girls talking today at school after school and this one girl kept saying, “y’all.” It’s just so typical Texas!!! And I am definitely picking it up as part of my lexicon. 😉

Well, sorry I am super late with SYS tonight… I came home, ate my Taco Bell chicken power bowl and promptly fell asleep. I have another cold and I am also tired from visiting up north with my kids for our little grandson’s 2nd birthday. We had a great time but it’s still traveling by air (with lots of wind turbulence… Can you say stressful??) and just not being home, so I guess my body is making up for it.

But, anyway, I DID manage to get one post out this week and then let’s get onto this week’s features… It’s all about Easter, amigos y amigas!!

Here’s what I shared this past week at French Ethereal…

Well, having a week off has helped me recover (mostly) from the nasty head cold, plus still do a little gardening and then ending with two days out at a state-wide assembly for the International Order of Odd Fellows (IOOF) and Rebekahs in East Texas. A thoroughly enjoyable ten days off from school!

We managed to get the fence moved during this time, also. Well… Mr. Ethereal did most of it but I did help move panels to their new spots and bashed out a ton of nails and drilled out some old screws. What a job! I am soooo pleased with the extra square footage to the yard and I hope to work on getting a number of plants in the ground in their intended spots this coming weekend. A post to come about all the moving soon…

Well, friends, we have a jam-packed showcase of really cool featured posts this week:

14 cool posts to share. Whew! Let’s get touring…

Here’s what I shared this past week at French Ethereal…

Happy almost spring to you! (Even if the cool temps outside say otherwise…) Sorry I am late getting SYS up again. I came home, laid down and promptly fell asleep for 1 1/2 hours. This past weekend was really busy helping unload Mr. Ethereal’s mom’s storage units and moving all those items and boxes into her house and garage. She is really happy with her new home but for now is still living with us while she “sets up shop.”

So needless to say, I didn’t get any posts done this past week but next week is spring vacation/Easter break so I’ll be back at it. Thanks for sticking around while I haven’t been up to much!

Speaking of Easter… this week’s Share Your Style is full of fun Easter ideas as well as St. Patrick’s Day ideas as well!

Also, in case you hadn’t heard, as I hadn’t until just a few days ago, I wanted to let you know two home decor bloggers you may know recently passed away: Paula from Virginia Sweet Pea and Michelle from The Unpainted Hinge. Please keep their families in your thoughts and prayers, won’t you? I’ve blogged with them for many years, as many of you have, and I hope you will stop by their blogs and enjoy their beautiful writings and photography in memory… 💜

Let’s check out this week’s featured posts, shall we?…

Love is in the air

Well, hello there! We have a snow day here in North Texas today and it was a good call by our school district to close down for a couple of days… Nice gentle rains yesterday evening turning into snow early, early in the morning. But, by 5:00am, the snow changed into freezing rain… Just a bit hazardous for school buses and folks to be out driving in it! My head cold is still going strong, too, so I went to bed early last night and just didn’t have the energy to get this post out. (think: emoji w/ rolling eyes upward…) Today is a new day and I have been able to get things done!

Our latest news: Yoda was quick about getting out and back in this morning, and he usually enjoys walking about in the snow. Coming up on 16 years old (I kept thinking he already was 16 last year; I was wrong.) this spring, he just doesn’t have the musculature to keep him warm anymore. I think the cold must really hurt his joints. He still comes inside all frisky for a few minutes each morning and evening, though! He is also enjoying having my mother-in-law here every day to let him out around noon-time and to give him more loving pets and cuddles throughout the day! 💜

Hubby and I have been house hunting with her on the weekends since New Year’s when they got back here from California, and even this past Monday evening we drove over to tour a home, so no posts again this past week for me. She did put in an offer on the home we saw on Monday night and hopefully she will hear back yea or nay soon. 🙂

This is all of my latest news, besides just going to work everyday, so let’s get this belated party started!!!

And here are this week’s featured posts…
