Here’s what I shared this past week at French Ethereal…

Welcome 2024 with Spring Blooming Containers + Garden Tour ~ You’ll love all the gorgeous potted plants everyone in this Pinterest Challenge shares!

I am sooo glad you stopped by today! I know the party is up really late this week, but every other week at school I move around 300 pounds of books a day. This was that week on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. We had today off in our school district, Good Friday, since we had no snow days this school year ~ a day to rest and recover. And, for everyone who believes in the Good News of the Cross, this is a day of remembrance of what our Lord and Savior did this day at Calvary…

I’m glad you are here, my friend!

Calves Part 2
So cute!!! Debra from Gma’s Photo shared her baby calves from her family’s farm in this photo
journal post ~ Calves Part 2. Don’t you just love cows?? Cattle, really, but I still call them all cows.

Funny story here as we close our day, when I used to ride the bus home from school during high school, there was a cow which lived up the hill from our house at our neighbors’ home. I would pull up handfuls of long grass to give her as a treat before walking down the hill to our home. As I watched her happily munching this grass and also watching her new baby calf each year, I loved her quiet gentle ways.

One day, she gave me a kiss: a big wet lick on the cheek! Did you know cows have tongues like cats, with large grooves in them for picking up water?? That kiss about sandpapered my face off, lol! ;)’

She was a sweetheart and I still think of her today…

An update on 4/4/24:

*** p.s. I forgot to add into this post that I am keeping this party open until next Monday, April 8th. Come on by and link up! And if you are in the path of the solar eclipse, I hope you get to see it!!! Denton, Texas is supposed to be right in the thick of it, but weather is coming in…

I did see a solar eclipse back when I was a kid in Hawaii. We took shoe boxes with a lid punched through with a pencil, I think. The sunlight came through the hole in the top of the box and then we could follow the pathway of the moon as it crossed the sun. Super easy to make and you didn’t need special sunglasses. 🙂

Share Your Style #420

Welcome to this week’s Share Your Style #420, dear friends! It’s all about spring here as we begin this lovely season. Let’s see what’s blooming out your way…

I am Barbara Chapman and I’d love it if you’d follow me here on my blog and on any of my other social media sites, too.  Thank you!💜

French Ethereal: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest

Well, everyone, I’m sorry about the lack of Share Your Style posts the past two weeks. I have to say that I have been paralyzed; I couldn’t put out a blog post. Finally, once I made a decision, I knew it was the right decision and that it is time for me to “pass the baton.”

It is time for me to pass Share Your Style onto the next person or persons. 🙂

So… If you would be interested in running a blog party, please leave me a message below or send a message to my email at: french.ethereal@gmail.com. I have had fun running the party for the past few years, since #189, I think. That’s 232 parties on my own. 🙂

Before me, there was a group of six women who ran the party, taking turns hosting. One of the original six still comes to link up and she is Debra from Common Ground. I appreciate Debra’s participation every week and her caring that Share Your Style lived on as a party. Thank you, Debra.

Anyway, I’ll still be running Share Your Style for a bit, so let’s get back to what we are here for ~ to enjoy each other’s wonderful posts! And since St. Patrick’s Day is just past, I’ll definitely share some posts from this fun holiday today, and some for Easter, which is fast approaching.

Enjoy!

Happy Valentine’s Day, Y’all!

Happy Valentine’s Day, y’all!!! Obviously, I bought some Girl Scout cookies yesterday and they had the cutest marketing technique… An Axolotl costume!!! (Say: “axle”- “ought” – “L” sound) The girls told me it was their troop’s mascot.

I went into the store to buy some strawberries to make chocolate dipped strawberries to share with the staff today (Valentine’s Treat Day). But then I began looking at all the goodies… And I was hungry!

So I came away with Krispy Kreme donuts in heart and regular shapes (yum!!!) and a small vase of flowers with a cute woven Valentine’s heart. I came home and paired these for hubby, Mr. Ethereal, so he’d have something nice to surprise him for Valentine’s Day today. 😉

Last year’s post ~ Styling a Vintage Valentine’s Cloche

I looked in my desk drawers and found this sweet vintage-style card and Gramma had provided the pretty plates…

I might do some belated Valentine posts since I haven’t shared the sweet cart and it’s Valentine’s look behind the counter here. I also rearranged the cupboard but I just was in a blue funk (typical winter blahhhs) and didn’t get much done this month.

The sun is out now and it is getting warmer, so I am feeling happier! So nice to get back out into the garden and do a little work.

We had a nice luncheon at school and a bunch of sweet treats in the morning. One of our former teachers is now a realtor so she brought pinwheel sandwiches and chips for us all and gathered phone numbers and addresses in case we were looking to buy or sell a home.

Chocolate Dipped Strawberries

These chocolate dipped strawberries are really easy to make. Messy but oh so good!!! Just microwave in a bowl:

  • Buy and wash a couple of flats of strawberries, removing bits of old leaves and leaves which fall off. Pat the washed berries dry.
  • Microwave about 1 cup of mixed 1/2 milk chocolate and 1/2 dark chocolate chips in 30 second intervals, about 3 times until the chocolate mixed with a spoon is smooth. You can use chocolate melts, too, but I was out of them. (This tastes better, anyway! :)’ ) Refill the bowl as many times as needed and microwaving the cooling chocolate as needed.
  • Immediately dip freshly washed and dried strawberries twirling them to coat the bottoms. Lay on wax paper.
  • Move the waxed paper and dipped berries onto a cookie sheet and place in a freezer for about 15 minutes to harden the chocolate.
  • Transfer to a pretty plate when cold and store wrapped in Saran Wrap or in a plastic keeper in the refrigerator until ready to serve!

Has been a lovely Valentine’s Day so far! I’m surprising my mother-in-law with some flowers and a few chocolate covered strawberries for her Valentine’s treat. I left a message for Hubby to come and meet us for dinner, if he can get away from work. We shall see!

I did want to share one adorable Valentine’s post with you ~ Debra from Common Ground shared this sweet heart craft ~ How to Make a Moss Covered Valentine Heart ~ at last week’s SYS #417 and it’s perfect to make in so many ways!

Anyway… No Share Your Style this evening since everyone will probably be celebrating the day with their loved ones. Enjoy your special day!!!

.

Blessings & hugs on this remembrance day of the real Saint Valentine,
