Make It! ~ A Heartsy Garland for Valentine’s Day {A Pinterest Challenge}

Welcome to this month’s Pinterest Challenge and this time it is all about winter garlands and Valentine’s Day! I am excited to be working again with Cindy of County Road 407 who has picked out a really sweet inspiration piece for us this month…

Jenny of Refresh Living brings us her sweet pompom and yarn- heart Farmhouse Inspired Valentine’s Decor garland shown here on an 1870’s pie safe. I just love how this fun garland is simply made from just yarn and jute twine. (Okay, and maybe a bit of cardboard underneath each heart to give it structure.)
😉
If you are just coming over from Carol of Bluesky at Home, a hearty welcome to you! For all my other friends, I am happy you are back for a visit!! Carol has created a really pretty red and white garland for today’s Pinterest Challenge. I love it!!!

Cindy’s wintertime PC logo ~ love it!
I have enjoyed each of the month’s I have participated in each of Cindy’s Pinterest Challenge. From last year’s Mixed Media Valentine’s Pinterest-Inspiration Project to “Some Bunny Loves Me” Spring Centerpiece and an Easy Patriotic Decorating Ideas, where we got to decorate a patio setting for our nation’s birthday, these PC’s really gives us something fun to look forward to each month. I hope each month brings you wonderful inspiration, too!
My Valentine’s garland interpretation

Last year I found this mini grapevine heart just after Valentine’s Day and I put it away in with my faux flowers for safekeeping. When this Pinterest Challenge idea came up I knew I wanted this little vining heart as the center of my garland.

Total $$ spent on this project? Nada! I already had part of a skein of white yarn leftover from some project years ago and the cardboard underneath each heart was just a thin piece of packaging I kept specifically for crafting.

Adding a little lace, some hanging ribbons and trim, and glueing on mini rosebuds made this heart just perfect (also part of my craft stash). I’ll do a little write-up later this week on how I actually made the whole garland but for now it is fun to just enjoy it!

For the little yarn hearts I copied Jenny’s idea as I thought they were sweet as they were. For my elegant French Country style I added soft iridescent pink ribbon in place of the jute twine to connect all my hearts. Pretty much picture perfect in my book!
🙂

Here is our mantel dressed for St. Valentine’s Day!

Hearts and angels mingle with candles and creamware in this wintertime mantel vignette… How will you make yours??
🙂

I am so glad you stopped over today!

Next up is Laura at Everyday Edits and her sweetheart of a garland. I know you you’ll love what she has created! Please take a moment or two to visit Laura and also, as you have time, to visit the other ladies on this month’s Pinterest Challenge tour.

  1. Your mini-grapevine heart was a terrific find. I love how it really sets off your banner, being in the center, especially with the lighter fireplace — it really stands out. Lovely, Barb.

  2. Barbara your garland looks so romantic and fun at the same time. I love how it turned out. And the mantel is perfect for the occasion – so pretty. Thank you so much for joining in. And I hope y'all enjoy Valentine's day! Pinned!

  3. That little grapevine heart is so sweet, Barb! I think the lace makes your heart garland look so dainty and fitting with your French country style. I'm always happy to be hopping with you! Hugs, Crissy
