Twas the Night Before Christmas…

Twas the Night Before Christmas
When all through the house
Not a creature was stirring
Except Mom
who was up sneaking around
putting out presents galore…

The stockings were hung
by the chimney with care…

And, the children were all nestled,
all snug in their beds,
while visions of candy cones
danced in their heads…

***With apologies to Clement C. Moore

Merry Christmas to all
and
to all a goodnight!

Random Thoughts at Christmas Time…

The side table in our dining room with our Hallmark Nativity ~ Love Divine

What could be more lovely
than Christmas time…

Not too much, in my book!
🙂
This past week I had been super busy making

Victorian Christmas candy cones
for students and coworkers at school,
and
wouldn’t you know…
didn’t take one picture.

So…
Will create some more in a day or two to show
you how I figured out how to do it.
😉

For today,
I’d like to share some more of our home
dressed in its Christmas finery…

The angel hutch in the dining room…
A candy store, lights all ablaze on the tea cart…

Double wreaths greeting visitors on the front doors…
The garden angel watching
over everything…

Love all lovely
Love Divine
Love came down
at Christmastide.

Yesterday I posted the entire Christmas poem
Love Came Down at Christmas
by Christina Rossetti
and it is probably
my favorite posting yet!

Other lovely poems by Ms. Rossetti
are posted in this link here
(pink)

***
Do you have a favorite posting
for Christmas?
A poem, a favorite craft that you have made
for someone special?
Please won’t you tell about it here in the
Comments section?

I am still trying to figure out how to host a
linky-party.
If anyone knows of a good site out there that can describe
“how to make a link within a blogpost”
let me know!
😉

I want you to be able to share your homes and creations
with all of us!
Sugarplums are beginning to dance in my head,
so will sign off…
More posting later sharing our mantel and evening lights!
🙂
Feel free to repost this post and share with your friends!
Happy Holidays to you!

At Christmastide

Christmastide
(also known as ~ Love Came Down at Christmas)

Source: The Poetical Works of Christina Georgina Rossetti, with a
Memoir and Notes by William Michael Rossetti (1904), page 159

Love came down at Christmas,
Love all lovely, Love Divine;
Love was born at Christmas,
Star and Angels gave the sign.

Worship we the Godhead,
Love Incarnate, Love Divine;
Worship we our Jesus:
But wherewith for sacred sign?

Love shall be our token,
Love be yours and love be mine,
Love to God and all men,
Love for plea and gift and sign.

Before 1886

I had heard this poem before in a shortened version,
thus I used it in the titles of
these last four weeks’ Sunday blog postings.

In reality I have just found the poet,
Christina Rossetti…

Our Italian Nativity this year: though not seeing most of the figurines’ faces, making Baby Jesus’ the most relevant.

Ms. Rossetti wrote many poems about Advent, about Christmas
and Jesus’ birth…
I have just scratched the surface
for you and for me!

Do enjoy her works;

they point to our Saviour!

Love All Lovely

Love all lovely…

I have been thinking about all that is lovely, all that is ethereal…
On our trip to visit family and friends
this week over Thanksgiving,
my longest-known best friend Janet,
her daughter Sara, and I
went Geo Caching out at a water reservoir
in Auburn, California.

Even with only being 1/3 full,
the water and surrounding countryside
were beautiful!
A family was there and their dog chased a ball
into the water
over and over, bounding out
with unbridled enthusiasm.
Here, he is resting between his trips into the lake
to retrieve his
beloved object…

Sometimes life is this big bridge…

Crossing this enormous foot bridge,

took courage and ignoring vertigo!

This was the second bridge of the afternoon,
about a football field in length.
The first was only 25′ long or so.
This rushing stream ran underneath the first.

Getting back together with friends
whom I hadn’t seen in several years
was wonderful!

We have known each other since high school,
over 30 years now.
And, it always amazes me that
no matter how far away we are,
how long it has been
since we have spoken,
we fall right back in-step,
as though we have never been apart…
Sara with the gecko she found in the first geo cache.

Janet signing the geo cache log.

Finding another item under the end of the big bridge, and adding a little toy moose!

Life is easy, life is good,
we can ignore the evils out in the world,
turn introspective
and
just be.

Live life to the fullest!

🙂

Thanks for visiting! Feel free to share.

Happy All Saints’ Day!

1Let brotherly love continue. 2Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing  some have unwittingly entertained angels. ~ Hebrews 13:1-2

Happy All Saints’ Day!

What are your

favorite angel quotes?

After posting
my garden lady yesterday,
looking rather spooky…

I thought today that I would
share our resin
angel
which lives out front
in the planter bed

with the roses.

Eden with a second blooming here in the fall!

Please share your favorite
angel quotes
with all of us here!

Blessings to you and

to your family,
