Celebrate America with a Patriotic Mantel + Link Party

Every year around this time of year, I like to put together a patriotic display on our mantel for summertime. While at Hobby Lobby last winter, Mr. Ethereal and I found the perfect piece to display in this year’s summer mantel which embodies American patriotism…

I love to celebrate our service members since my husband, father, a brother and several cousins all are veterans. These mantels are a tribute to them and all other service members. Let’s check out this year’s mantel. 🙂

Creating our patriotic mantel

I’ve included a book read in my American Government class, a French style vintage clock for France who helped the Colonists win the Revolutionary War, and a sweet little plaque which says it all. 🙂

On the right side, I added a book my husband picked up years ago ~ Great Military Seiges by Vezio Melegari (not sponsored, just linked). We both enjoy studying history and this is one of his favorites.

This side also shares our “little patriots” — pieces also picked up when my husband was traveling with his family in 1976 on a tour of Washington D.C. and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was in junior high then.

Many of the books Hubby has were “recommended reading” when he was new to the Marine Corps, but this one was probably picked up on that same family vacation. It is dated 1972, per the linked Amazon site shared above. 🙂

This is a fairly simple mantel display this year. I wanted to showcase this awesome print of the Signing of the U.S. Constitution (not sponsored).

We have a copy of the Declaration of Independence around here somewhere, too, that his family picked up several copies back in that family summer roadtrip.

Hubby probably has it hidden in his office closet… 😉

I think this framed art print was around $20.00 ($29.99, but it is 50% off this week) at Hobby Lobby. I think I will hang it in Mr. Ethereal’s office after summer is over. 🙂 He really liked it and we could hang both it and the Declaration near each other.

When I originally saw it, I just had to have it! Thankfully, Mr. Ethereal was with me that evening and he agreed. 🙂
