Share Your Style #439

.

Welcome, dear friends, to this week’s Share Your Style #439! Sorry this wasn’t up yesterday (Wednesday), but I started coming down with the first cold of the school year (ugh!). Staying home today, I can still write, so here we are. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Fall is just around the corner and there is a fall home tour I will be participating in in another week or so, plus our monthly Pinterest Challenge. Both are hosted by Cindy from County Road 407, so do look for those posts soon!

I would be remiss if I didn’t remember to say, let’s remember to keep those affected by September 11th twenty-three years ago in our prayers… Two dear friends were devastatingly affected and eventually divorced. I want to say that our USMC retired friend never fully recovered from that day… He was working at the Pentagon when it was hit. He was on another side, away from where he normally worked, having walked there for business reasons. He would have been killed when the plane hit, otherwide, but he was spared.

For reasons of privacy I will not share his name, but I think of him every year and the loss of so many coworkers and friends of his that day. This man helped pull many of them out during the search and recovery. His former wife didn’t find out if he was still alive until hours and hours later (phone lines were down). He had already experienced a helicopter auto-rotation earlier in his career with the Marine Corps and we were all good friends then.

Let’s remember them and honor them with fall’s beautiful features, shall we?

I am Barbara Chapman and I’d love it if you’d follow me here on my blog and on any of my other social media sites, too.  Thank you!๐Ÿ’œ

  1. Thanks for having us over, Barb, and for sharing my Kitchen NIche. Hope you feel better soon. Sounds like you’ve been working hard lately.

  2. Very sad for all those affected by 9-11. Your friends’ story is sad. Equally so are those families whose troops were killed in the hasty exit from Afghanistan 3 yrs ago. God Bless our Troops and our Country!

  3. Thank you for sharing those stories of your friends who were affected by 911, Barb. It’s a reminder to never forget the gravity of that day. I hope you feel better soon. Thanks so much for the party.
