I am loving this summertime for random gorgeousness during my early morning walks and then evening sunsets. I take photos all of the time but hardly ever get anything posted out on Instagram. I have no idea why I don’t; I guess I am over all the social media stuff. I really am an introvert with random extrovert spurts.
However, I still want to share all of these beautiful pics with you!
So let’s go…

Totally excited that we have an armadillo visiting us! One day I was cleaning summer cobwebs out of the inside of our living room windows when I see this pile of dirt on the lower sill outside… What in the world?? Going outside I see this enormous hole in the ground with a ton of dirt thrown out of it on the sill and underneath it.
Crazy!

Turns out it was created by this big guy! I met him (or her) a few days later when I went to change the water in my vacationing neighbors’ hummingbird feeder. Turns out armadillos eat grubs and bugs, but I think he likes watemelon, too. I tossed a half of an old watermelon out on the compost pile last month and by the next morning, there wasn’t a scrap of melon on the rind.
He was hungry!!

Gardens out & about
Just a few roses bloomed during a break in the heat and this Iceberg (?) rose bloomed again. I forget its name but I looked on the David Austin website for “tipped petals” and it is either Iceberg or Claire Austin (I think). Beautiful whatever rose it is!

Going to Lowe’s one day, I was captivated by the bumblebees flitting from coneflower to coneflower. Fun!

Backyard shots
After a quick clean up on the weekend, the back patio looks good. Hubby’s smoker bbq is in view, too.

Most of the plants are doing well this summer despite the heat. This juniper is loving the heat and is naturally drought tolerant. I moved an English lavender over to this side and planted our bougainvillea for the summer. I will dig it back up here in October and prep it for winter indoors.

A pink hibiscus blooming in a neighborhood near ours ~ I see these guys blooming on one of my two mile walks.

Sunsets & Sunrises
Looking west out our bedroom palladian window. The sky was pinker than this but I couldn’t get my iPhone to edit this photograph any better. ๐

Another evening with fantastic pink skies! Soooo pretty…

And an early morning sunrise atop a rise on my way to work…

About 6:00am a week or so ago… This homeowner has lights strung around her backyard leaving no area unlit. It is really cheerful in the early dawn light..
.
And these are the unique photographs I have taken this summer. I’ll be by to see yours soon.
Happy snapping,

I gave up on Instagram before I even started much. Who can handle one more social media thing and the relationship with bloggers is more important to me. The photos are great. An armadillo? WOW! I’ve never seen one before, even in a zoo!
