Happy almost Valentine’s Day, everyone! We have a rainy weekend ~ perfect for making a mid-winter Valentine’s door basket…
Gather your supplies
You will need:
- some kind of basket to hang ~ I found this one at Hobby Lobby or Joanne Fabrics a couple of years ago.
- Valentine’s decor ~ My mother-in-law gifted me some things to use for Valentine’s Day. I love this little standing Valentine’s Day table decoration!
- wrapped wire ~ I like to use up twist ties which I never seem to use on garbage bags.
- pretty tissue papers
- French wired ribbon for decor
How to put this door basket together
Begin with tying some coated wire behind the pre-made ribbon. If you need to, create your ribbon first and add a tie behind.
I’ve used two twist-ties twisted together then poke each end between the basket caning. Tie together on the backside. 🙂
Wrap another twist-tie around your decoration(s) and tie this to your bow. Add any other decorations to the basket itself as desired.
I went pretty minimalistic for this basket. The upcoming basket for spring will probably NOT be minimalistic, lol! (Coming soon!!)
Finishing up your basket
I gathered up one soft pink peony bloom and two pale pink cabbage roses from my faux plant collection for this basket.
Gather your florals into a mini bouquet, then…
Lay your flowers into one or two tissue papers, like a florist would do, and set them into the basket.
That’s it, y’all! Pretty easy to make this basket and really took only about 10 minutes to put together. 🙂
We have really grey weather outside so this pop of color is perfect for perking up our home. 🙂
What a nice way to share early spring with your neighbors! I have seen that our neighbors here in our cul-de-sac love to decorate for the seasons.
The bow I used on this basket came off a Christmas wreath I picked up at the after-Christmas sales at the big box stores. I thought it looked more spring and summery, and I planned to use it here.

Happy Valentine’s decorating!
Very cute! I have been keeping my eyes peeled for a similar, cute door basket to be able to change up from wreaths. Have a great week, Barb.
This came out lovely Barb. I looks great on your door. Thanks for the inspiration. Happy Valentines Day! XO- MaryJo
I’ve never thought to use tissue paper. Love it! Happy LUV day!
This is pretty, Barb! I need to do something like that — if only I could find the stuff in my basement with it all juggled around!
