Celebrating New Beginnings with French Style

Happy New Year, dear friends! We are celebrating another trip around the sun here on French Ethereal and with the calendar’s annual flip, “Yours Truly” turns another year older. Here at the new year, it is always a good time to take stock of what one would like to accomplish this year, how you are feeling overall, and how the previous year fared. Plus, I hear it is actually very healthy to create New Year’s Resolutions, even if we give up on the new diet one week in, lol! …

In thinking about French Ethereal and what I’d like to accomplish this year, one of the things I wanted to get back to was my roots of featuring “The Girls.” They were at the heart of FE as I started this blog-journey, and they embody the essence of my love of French Country style.

I was out browsing on the internet over the holidays, on Amazon actually, as I was looking at one of your accounts and things which were recommended… I saw this bust and thought, “Ooooh, she reminds me of Marie Antoinette!”

Visiting the Château de Versailles{igh}! ~ Marie Antoinette’s bust graced the mantel of her bed-chamber’s fireplace.

This Amazon maiden’s bust does indeed remind me of the bust I had seen at Versailles, up on a mantel in the queen’s recreated bedroom.

I bet living amongst such opulence is stunning to look at, but from what I have read, she would have enjoyed a much more private life. There are certainly “costs” to being famous and a celebrity, then add on top, also royalty.

Aren’t we happier in the end just being anonymous so we can go outside in public without being harrassed?? (Okay, it might be nice to have a bit more $$$ so life isn’t always a balancing act with finances!) 😉

The link above takes you to when my daughter Amy and I visited Versailles in the summer of 2022, and if you haven’t been to the Gardens of Versailles, that is also linked here for you!

Our new maiden

I saw this statue just a couple of weeks before Christmas, so I went and talked with Mr. Ethereal to see what he thought about me buying it… We knew if it was too big, or I didn’t like it, I could always return it.

She is lovely! She is also big at 2′ tall, so I am on the fence about returning her. (Only because where would I store her when she is not out on display? I guess she would visit the craft room, then.)

.

She does add a nice French grace-note to our living room!

And now I am thinking of how can I dress her? Maybe sewing some winter stoles for “The Girls” to wear during wintertime… 😉

And adding pearls, which is my favorite thing to do anytime of year!

This new maiden is a birthday present to myself, even if she arrived just before Christmas.

Do you think she is a Marie Antoinette copy of some bust out there? What should her name be?I have never named the others, but she could have a name!

If you have any recommendations, please write them in the comments below. 💜  I will gather all of the names and put them in a hat to draw a winning name!

I think that would be a lot of fun! 💜  What are you doing to celebrate the new year?

Happiest of New Beginnings, mes amis,
