Hello, dear friends! Our weather is much cooler now in the morning (high 60’s to low-70’s) and back up into the 90’s during the day, but without all the heat. Yeah! With cooler temps, I am feeling like fall decorating! Let’s create a beautiful fall tableau…
First a Mini DIY
While cleaning out and donating more of our Craft Room and decorating supplies, I found this lovely orange faux dahlia. I thought, “Well, that would make a nice fall corsage for our little maiden statuette.”
This would also be perfect for making hair barrettes for our daughters and grands to wear to school or to church or out to a party. 🙂
Supplies needed
- Faux flowers, foliage and a berry pick
- barrette with snap clip – same as you’d use to make hair barrettes
- hot glue gun and glue sticks
Gather your supplies and cut off flowers, foliage and berries from their plastic picks. Arrange them until you like the way they look, then glue them onto the barrette.
And that’s it!
Making Our Fall Tableau
Create a bouquet of fall flowers in a vase or jug. Add this to your table. I used a rustic creamware jug I found several years ago at HomeGoods. I like this one as it is hand-made and has ridges giving it a lot of texture.
To your tableau, add a small autumnal paintings on stand, add books in autumn’s rich colors, and add a touch of whimsy, too. I didn’t have a fall postcard or mini painting to put in my tableau’s background, but I did have this little dog which we picked up at Christmas-time. Plus it looks like our heavenly Yoda! <3
The flowers placed to the left balance the height of the statue and echo the cheery orange in the corsage with its flowers. Our maiden with her fall corsage was placed on the right.
An open book and a teacup & saucer complete our little fall tableau. The ethereal early evening light falling on the scene set everything off just so…
