Welcome to Our Christmas Home Tour!

.

Hello y’all, welcome to our 2024 Christmas Home Tour! I am soooo excited that you are here and I want to say a warm thank you to Cindy from County Road 407 for organizing this merry band of bloggers.

.

If you are just coming over from Amber‘s site at Follow the Yellow Brick Home for the first time, welcome! This year, I am sharing our living room, dining room and just a bit of our kitchen.

.

.

Let’s check out our dining room

Our fair maiden overlooks the dining room table while sporting her red velveteen winter cloak as she nestles in with two small grapevine Christmas trees in coordinating red berries.

.

.

Here is a view of the dining room from the living room doorway. Our china hutch is fully decorated but I haven’t decorated the table yet as I plan on sharing it in a later post.

However, …

.

.

Our dining table has a small centerpiece on it. For this look, I just changed out the Cinderella pumpkin for a wicker duck that I’ve had since I was a teen. A creamy wax St. Nicolas rides in his avian sleigh with a few greens tucked in. 😉

.

.

With Thanksgiving happening just a few days ago, I took a snap of this Tom Turkey hiding in the background. He looks nice in amongst the teapot’s two Christmas trees and his message is ever en vogue.

.

.

Along the top shelf, I just took away the little ceramic pumpkins, a decorative corn candle and any summer flowers from our hutch’s fall look. By bringing in a Christmas plate and the other wax Santa where the turkey platter was, and adding two s/p shaker reindeer.

Next, I added two small Johnson Bros. wintertime brown transferware plates to either end of the shelf. It was fun swapping out just f few items from the china hutch and not having to take everything down!

.

.

I bought this china hutch the year I joined the Victorian Tea Society in Riverside County, California, back when I was 35 years old ~ almost 30 years ago. I love that it was made from rough boards and was inspired by the angel picture frame creating a little door at its center.

I paid $300 for it, plus tax.

It has worked really well holding a massive amount of china pieces behind those two lower doors! A year or so after we bought it, my son helped me add a second shelf board next to original one making a better functioning large middle shelf to hold all of our teapots and accoutrements.

.

.

Let’s move into our living room with its Christmas finery

This year I was delighted to partner with King of Christmas to share our new 7.5′ flocked Rushmore faux Christmas tree. With Black Friday sales still going on, you can get up to 65% on any Christmas tree, depending upon the day’s sales. If you follow the link here or in the sidebar, I will receive a small commission but it will not add more to your cost.

.

A Sprinkle of Ethereal Sparkliness ~ the post where I introduced this gorgeous King of Christmas tree!

.

This is the Rushmore tree with just a few ornaments on it… I love the distance between the branches and it was just what I was looking for from which to hang long, dangly ornaments. 🙂

.

.

My mother-in-law kept saying I needed to add more red to the tree to make the ornaments really show up on camera, and she was right. Listen to your mother, folks! 😉 & The tree has many of our family ornaments, my Italian grandmother Rosa’s Shiny Brite ornaments from the late 1950’s/early 1960’s, and tons of starched & crocheted plus plastic snowflakes.

.

.

Red toile stockings, dried roses, a forest green tassel, and our little angel cherub lying next to a cool tall candleholder perk up the fireplace.

.

The “Peace” sign is new and sits next to a small nativity. Stacks of books in reds and greens add their festive colors to the mantel.

My great-grandmother Julia’s cut-glass bowl is the perfect vase for dried hydrangea blossoms. A favorite angel stands alongside another two Santas. I love this vignette of neutrals!

.

The theme this year began with stars as I was thinking about stars lighting the way for the Christ-Child. Stars drape over the mirror and other star ornaments feature on the Christmas tree.

.

.

.

The rest of our living room came together with our new creche scene and the little Madonna and Child I found thrift shopping when we still lived in our RV Prairie Home. Bringing out needlework pillows found at JC Penney years ago plus a few newer ones completed the look.

.

  1. What a beautiful home tour and your maiden with the red robe is stunning, what a find! Happy holidays!

    1. Laura, I’m sorry you had trouble leaving a message. It’s probably leftovers from the scammers who came calling to me back right after the encounter I had on Election evening when I banged my head on concrete. (I had a smaller version of what you went through earlier this year; stitches and a trip to the hospital, lol!)

Anyway, this jerk called as “my bank” and anyway, luckily my husband caught the issue as it was happening as I had a concussion and didn’t see any issues… He knew about this scam. Anyway, they have “had fun” messing with many of our accounts/WP and other apps I had on my phone… Nightmare and lots of password changes.

All that to say, I’m glad you enjoyed seeing our fair maiden and the new nativity! The large ceramic one fell out of the box as my huband was putting it away a year or so ago, breaking many of the pieces. The box finally had deteriorated too much over the years, so we needed a new nativity. 🙂

Enjoy your Christmas and I hope you have a wonderful time visiting with family! I’ve been enjoying all of your LIW/LHOTP posts this year. I read a lot at school but can’t always comment. And I will ask WP if they can look at my account and fix any issues with commenting… Ugh!

Sorry so long-winded but thought you’d be interested.
      Love and hugs,
      Barb

    1. Thank you, Rachel! The tree has been really fun to decorate and I am amazed at how large it is. It could easily hold every ornament we own, which is saying something after collecting for 37 years, lol!!

      Enjoy your Christmas,
      Big hugs,
      Barb 🙂

  2. Your nativity collection is so very special. Your home is lovely with all of the beautiful vintage touches! Merry Christmas!

    1. Lora, thank you so much! Our hutch is getting a bit shabbier and I am thinking of repainting it this next year ~ it’s time. 😉 I hope you have the best Christmas season, too!!!

      Many hugs,
      Barb 🙂

  3. Your tree is just gorgeous Barbara! I love how it looks in front of the windows, and it is the perfect size for the room! I hope you enjoy the holiday season and have a wonderful Christmas!

    1. Thank you, Michelle! I am really thrilled with this King of Christmas tree and still can’t believe that they reached out to me. My blog is so small but you just never know. <3 I thought I'd place it there for my backdoor neighbors to enjoy. 🙂

I may have answered already from my phone but thought I'd write again. Happy Christmas to you!

      Big merry hugs,
      Barb 🙂

  4. Your home looks so cozy and I love all the little details. The hutch, the mantel, the manger scene. It’s all beautiful. Even the cloth you have the manger sitting on is gorgeous! I noticed the swan right away. I’d love to find one! Thank you for sharing your home with us. Hopefully, now you can relax a little? 😉 pinned

  5. Your home is stunning — truly spectacular, Barb. I love that hutch beyond words and the centerpiece Santa/sleigh is perfection. (The added ornaments don’t need to be red to show up, but she probably has a bit of a point about something darker!) Still, I adore that tree. It’s a real stunner and your decorations look lovely on it! I loved every photo.
