***Getting out a bit late tonight since I’ve been on the phone with Hubby and my MIL (in reverse order, prepping for her to come here to stay with us while she finds a home in Texas.)

No new posts out this week but the shed is almost done! While Hubby has been away on business and helping his mother finish packing on the weekends (in California), I’ve primed and painted the main three walls of the shed. This weekend I hope to add the corner moulding and get that glued and nailed in, add garland and lights around the front entry, and wrap presents.

Family drives in a week from tomorrow for an early Christmas, but I should actually get some posts out later this week. 🙂 If not, well… Then it’ll happen over Christmas and you can see how I decorated then. Life is short and this year, I am just not going to worry about it. 😉

So…

And here are this week’s featured posts…

Debra of Common Ground shared a trip she and her hubby took over to
The Ozark Mill and Other Updates (you’ll WANT to read this post if you’re friends with Debra!). Check out the view!!!

CHOCOLATE PEPPERMINT NO-BAKE TART

NOVEMBER 29, 2021 BY ELIZABETH 18 COMMENTSThis post contains affiliate links.Good morning friends, happy Monday. I had such a jam packed and fun Thanksgiving(weekend) I feel as if I need a vacation from my vacation. In addition to all of the Thanksgiving festivities, we shopped, went to a Christmas fair, assembled a pinecone garland for the front porch, foraged in the woods for pine, holly and magnolia to make 4 huge planters  and baked Christmas cookies. I will be honest, I have never made garland before and this one took so much more time, and pinecones than I thought, not to mention it was incredibly painful! Did you know that pinecones have “thorns.” I have band-aids on 4 fingers, and cuts and splinters on my hands, but it was all worth it because it turned out so beautiful. I will share a photo with you this week.

NO BAKE CHOCOLATE PEPPERMINT TART

As we are gearing up for Christmas parties, festivities and gift making I thought I would share the easiest tart to make ever. There is no baking involved so that saves a lot of time. It is basically an Oreo crust with a ganache filling topped with candy canes. It cannot get any easier and the presentation is beautiful, it looks as if you worked in the kitchen all day but the good news is that is doesn’t take more than 10 minutes to put together!

Chocolate-Peppermint-Tart on a white ruffles plate on a white table with red bulbs on the table

This chocolate peppermint no bake tart is perfect for your dessert table at Christmas, to give to family and friends, or to take along to any parties you are attending. If you do not like peppermint you could add berries, or dulce de leche, or even crushed or chopped chocolate for decorations, the possibilities are endless.

Newcomer Elizabeth from Pinecones and Acorns shared this easy Chocolate Peppermint No-Bake Tart. Delicious!!! Welcome Elizabeth!

These tips for hosting overnight house guests will help make your holiday extravaganza run smoothly and be way more fun.

Hosting overnight house guests can be as fun as a sleepover when you were a kid or dreadfully overwhelming.

The tips I’m sharing with you today will help move you in the direction of the fun side of hosting overnight house guests based on many years of experience.

Ever since we moved states, we have had a lot of overnight house guests. We even host Christmas every year for at least three families.

Granted I really like my in-laws, but the reason we always have a great time is because we do as much as much prep as we possibly can and then focus on keeping it simple during their stay.

So today, I’m sharing with you my unaltered truth on how to make hosting overnight house guests super fun for everyone.

CREATE A WELCOMING GUEST ROOM

Rug Placement in Bedroom in Guest bedroom

First things first, you want to create a welcoming guest room.

This is their home away from home for the time they are staying with you, so you want to make sure it’s as cozy and accommodating as possible.

This includes fresh linens, blackout curtains, luggage racks, and plug accessibility to name a few.

You can read my full list of how to create a great experience for overnight guests to make sure your guest quarters are in tip-top shape before your guests arrive.

  1. thanks so much Barb. you’re very sweet, my friend! You’re so right. Life is short and sometimes it takes precedence over anything else. I hope your MIL finds a great spot closeby. I can’t wait to see this shed. You all have been working so hard on getting it finished. Have a great rest of the week!

    1. Thank you, Debra. We will probably fly out to help drive with her here. She will stay with us while looking for a home. Happily, she will have all cash and be able to close quickly. Sheds almost ready to share! 💕☃️

  2. I know what you mean about time getting away from you! Even though I started holiday decorating early (for us that is!), I’m still behind. Ah well…. Thanks for hosting in the midst of your very busy week!

    1. Thank you, Sandra! School is crazy, the kids are wound up, too. I come home and think okay what can I get done? 💕☃️🎄😊 I’m just not going to sweat it this year. Simple decor for our grandson who will just pull everything off the Christmas tree as it is, lol! 🥰 Have a great rest of your week, too! Hugs, Barb

  3. Barb,
Thanks so much for hosting this charming party each and every week!! I so appreciate all the time and effort that does into it along with visiting all the links and choosing Features!!! Stay safe, healthy and happy!!
    Hugs,
    Deb

  4. So excited the shed is almost finished, Barb! I know you guys have been working so hard on everything. I hope our MIL gets settled soon and your Christmas season is one to remember! Hugs, CoCo

    1. Thank you, CoCo! We will be driving with her to get her out to Texas here just after Christmas. Yoda will have to go, too (fly with us). Hubby is checking whether she can attach a U-Haul or not so we can have Yoda in the car. Rest soon! Lol!!! 😊💕 I’ll look for your posts. 🎄

  5. Barb, thank you for even taking the time to get the party opened. I love your attitude about not worrying about. Now that my move is complete, I’ve decorated much lighter, and am sharing a peek into our dining room with a forest fantasy tablescape that becomes part of that decor.
Fyi, love seeing the newcomers here today. Did you know their entire post came through on their links today? Not sure how that happens…..
Looking forward to seeing your shed. Texas weather definitely allows longer time to work outside – not sure if that’s a good thing or bad. I’d always feel the need to keep doing……hope you can take it easy.

    1. Thank you, Rita! I will get some rest here soon. The kids are coming and it’s usually pretty low key. I didn’t know about the whole post thing. I’ll send a message to WordPress and ask them how to prevent that. Glad you are all moved in! I’ll look for your post! ☃️🎄💕

  6. Thank you for the party. This time of year can go so fast. I put a poinsettia on the mantel yesterday, and that was the first indoor Christmas decorating I’ve done this year! And, I’ve actually been a day behind all week. Today, I thought it was Wednesday until I had been up for an hour!

  7. Thank you kindly for featuring my peppermint tart, for hosting this wonderful party and for all of the interesting, delicious and fun links. I love meeting new people and trying new things. I hope that you have a wonderful weekend. Make sure to find some “me time” to enjoy the holiday.
