Share Your Style #298

Welcome, friends, to this week’s Share Your Style #298!!! Happy Wednesday to you all!

This link party is for home decor, DIY, crafts, recipes and the like, but you are more than welcome to share any of your family-friendly posts with us all. Please feel free to share this post too and join my small but loyal band of friends. I appreciate you!
As always, I am glad that you are here…

Woowee! I am so sorry about last Wednesday… I should have called off the week before as I knew I was getting my second Covid-19 vaccine last Wednesday morning, but then thought I’d be back in time (and feel well enough to run SYS). Well, at 6:00p.m. I was still in Oklahoma and by 8:00p.m., the time I got home, I was beginning to “freeze.” I had the usual reaction (again) with fever and chills, body aches, head ache and just sleeping hours…

This week, I am good, except during the time between the first and second shots, I was tripped backwards by a student at school, so… I have a broken tailbone (looked like a spiral fracture, but I could be wrong). Now I am out on Worker’s Comp leave! Crazy year…

Anyway, I hope you all had a wonderful Easter!!! He is risen!!! I got no Easter posts out, really. I’ve been in the winter funk for a while and with so many changes at work (plus getting the virus in the fall, and now this injury…), I have been feeling overwhelmed. With this leave, I should have plenty of time to get myself back to “normal.” 😉

Enjoy this week’s features, friends! It’s good to be back… 🙂

I am Barbara Chapman and I’d love it if you’d follow me here on my blog and on any of my other social media sites, too.  Thank you!💜

Here’s what I shared this past week at French Ethereal…

No posts this past week but I do want to share our Miss Kim lilac in bloom! Last year it bloomed in a lovely light purple, but I think I didn’t feed it enough so the blooms are a pretty white!

  1. Wow! You have had a hard week. I am so sorry to hear all this and hopefully you are on the mend. About a year & half ago I was hit by a car while walking on a cross walk; I flew in the air and landed on my tailbone. I was fortunate nothing broke but my tailbone took awhile to heal. Still somedays if I stay in certain positions too long I feel the discomfort. Take it easy and take care of yourself- I feel your pain. Thanks for hosting all of us during this time. Have a better week ahead. XO- MaryJo

    1. Oh my goodness, MaryJo! I am glad you weren’t killed!!! I lost my first fiancé to a car/bicycle accident in 1983 ~ he was 20 years old and I had turned 21. I can imagine as you get older that your back and neck will give you more problems (arthritis and such). Keep that in mind and stretch every day. On the joking side, Aren’t metal chairs THE WORST?? Glad that you are doing well since the accident… My tailbone actually straightened out from my own bicycle accident when I was 22, (it was in a V for the past 35 years), so that’s actually a good thing, though it aches now as the bones begin to re-knit together.

Thank you again for your kind thoughts and prayers for your own safety,
      Hugs,
      Barb 🙂

  2. Oh Barb, that’s horrible, I’m so sorry you’ve had such a rotten week or so. I’m glad they’re giving you time off. This last year has been a doozy for many of us. Please rest up and take care of yourself. Thanks for featuring my little vignette on the baker’s rack and the forced branches. Prayers for you, Barb!

    1. Thank you, Debra! I appreciate your sweet comments. <3 I am taking it easy and doing only what I was told was okay to do. I am happy for the mental time off more than anything, really. This year has been especially crazy, for all who are teaching, really. Anyway, I am happy to have time and energy for writing, again! 🙂

Glad you enjoyed the feature, and happy springtime to you! I hope yours is beautiful and a joy for you,
      Spring hugs,
      Barb 🙂

  3. Barb,
It has been quite a year for you, hasn’t it? So sorry to hear about your injury….Glad though that you have time off so you can heal and rest…
Thanks so much for taking the time to host this lovely party!! Happy Easter to you and your family!! Stay safe, healthy and happy!!
    Hugs,
    Debbie

    1. Thank you so much, Debbie! We had a nice Easter with calls from the kids and FaceTime with our son and daughter-in-law and little Milo. His birthday was just a couple of days later, so it was really fun to see him scooting around (which he is really excited about!) and plus seeing all of his new birthday toys!! Can’t wait to finally give him a hug this summer!

Hope spring is really springing up your way,
      Big hugs,
      Barb 🙂

  4. Good grief — you have had a terrible time of it lately. A broken tailbone sounds so grim and of course the reactions not fun at all. I hope things level off for you very soon indeed! Big hugs!

    1. Hi Jeanne! It has been a crazy year at school and really this was a stupid accident. The kid, I’m sure, just was running while not looking forward and so didn’t see me as he ran into me, tripping me backwards. For our Admin., there just isn’t anywhere/anyone I can change jobs with for a few weeks, so home I am. It’s demoralizing but freeing, too. At least I can write and do light gardening (got the okay from the W/C doctor). Guess it’s time to look for something else… Worst part is a broken tailbone isn’t visible so people look at you like, “Why aren’t you working?” That’s the worst part.

Thank you for your sweet thoughts and I appreciate the support! I hope spring has finally arrived up your way and you can get out to your vacation home! The lilac I brought back from South Dakota last summer is doing really well (it really enjoyed the Arctic freezes!).

      Happy spring,
      Barb 🙂

  5. Oh my goodness, Barb, I am so sorry to hear about your injury. I have broken my tailbone before and it is no joke! I hope you are able to get lots of rest and relaxation while you recover. Thanks so much for featuring my sweet Ralphie’s birthday post! I have to get planning the next kid’s birthday which is in just a few weeks!

    Shelbee
    http://www.shelbeeontheedge.com

    1. Shelbee, thank you so much!! Oh my gosh, it is tough having two birthdays for kids in quick succession!! We had fairly elaborate Pirate, Chuck E. Cheese, movie theater parties over the years, then pool parties after we put in the pool at the Big House. They were all fun but it does take a lot of planning. <3 I hope you husband is enjoying the HVAC training for his new job and that he is enjoying finishing up with the Army! I think he will really enjoy the less stress of it all; maybe not the heat in people's attics during the summer... Lol! 😉 Different kind of stresses, for sure. <3

Enjoy your spring and I hope you and the family get out there for more hikes! While I'm off, I'm really not supposed to be sitting much so I'll be going out walking and to a favorite place to walk paved trails up in Sanger, near us.

      Happy spring,
      Barb 🙂

  6. Oh Barbara you have had such a tough year. Between COVID and now this. I’m sorry you have gone through all this. You definitely need a break and some peace.

Thanks for hosting during all of this. Get rest and I hope you are better soon.

    Cindy

    1. Thank you so much, Cindy! It has been a crazy year for sure… Thankfully, summer is almost here and I’ll have a nice big break then. 🙂 I did get both shots so I hopefully won’t get Covid again, EVER… It’s so sickening to have to stay in bed for so long! I would have never made it living prior to modern medicine, lol! ;)’ I am enjoying spring and the garden is wonderfully healing. I was okayed to do light gardening, just not lift more than 15 lbs., so Hubby lifts anything big for me. <3

Blessings to you and please enjoy your springtime, too,
      Hugs,
      Barb 🙂

  7. Thank you for featuring my Roasted asparagus with Prosciutto post, its much appreciated. Please take care of yourself and just take it easy and heal, sending healing vibes your way.

    1. Thank you so much, Mary! I am taking it easy, thank you. I was okayed to do light gardening and not to lift anything over 15 lbs, so Hubby moves tables and umbrellas and things around for me. He’s been good about vacuuming, too, and helping with groceries. It’s nice having him working from home. Glad you enjoyed having your asparagus dish featured! <3

      Enjoy your springtime,
      Hugs,
      Barb 🙂

  8. Barbara this year has been especially hard for you. I hope the break can give you enough down time to feel like your self. Thank you for including me again as one of the features. I glad it made you remember good times.
    Hug
    RR

    1. MaryJo, thank you for your sweet thoughts! I am feeling better. I realize that this has been an especially trying year for any teacher/paraprofessional. Our kids are stressed, we all feel stressed, having to wear a mask all day is driving me nuts! But, maybe this fracture was God’s way of saying, “Time to find something else…” I am already feeling that summer break is coming, and feel like writing again. 🙂 I’m glad you enjoyed the feature! I do love old mirrors… Just not enough walls to put them all, lol! 😉

Enjoy your spring weather and thanks again,
      Hugs,
      Barb 🙂

  9. Thank you, Barb, for hosting this lovely party! I’m so sorry you broke your tailbone. That is so painful! I hope you feel better soon. Enjoy your week!

    Hugs,

    Tee @ Teediddlydee

    1. Thank you, Tiffany! It’s really a silly injury and not visible so it feels silly being home for it, but that’s how it is. Glad you enjoyed the party and thank you for your sweet comments. It’s more pressure than painful, which is good.

Enjoy your weekend and happy springtime to you,
      Hugs,
      Barb 🙂

  10. Thank you so much for hosting another great party this week….and a special thanks for the feature! Sending prayers for a speedy recovery….hugs…..

    1. Thank you, Penny! I appreciate the love. <3 It's really a silly injury and not visible; I feel silly being off from work but there's no open position for me to fill while recovering, so I'm home for a few weeks. Gardening was okayed by the primary doctor, so thankfully I can weed. 🙂

Have a wonderful weekend and I hope you and your hubby can get out and hike around there in NM! I loved the mountains and the trails around Albuquerque when I was there in June years ago. Such a beautiful place!!
      Hugs back,
      Barb 🙂

  11. So many fun links to dive into this week, Barb! I love all the features you chose. I’m so sorry to read about your health issues. I know you’ve been through a lot this year. Way more than one person should have to deal with that’s for sure. I hope your week is a relaxed one and you’re able to get some rest and start to heal. Wishing you a healthy and speedy recovery, CoCo

    1. Thank you, CoCo! I really am fine other than I feel pressure when standing or sitting too long. I have a plastic floaty and that helps for sitting. 🙂 It is nice to have time to actually get around and visit everyone virtually. <3

Enjoy your weekend and happy spring,
      Barb 🙂

  12. Oh dear Barb — ouch! Geez, what a year! I’m so sorry for you injury and hope you have a speedy recovery. Awfully nice of you to feature not one but two of my collections. It’s much appreciated! Pamper yourself and feel better soon.

    1. Hi Debbee! I am really fine other than I am supposed to take it easy. 🙂 It is nice to be home for a bit and not stressing about everything at school (a really, really challenging year with changes almost daily; a bit too much.). Glad you enjoyed the features!! <3

Enjoy your weekend and spring hugs to you,
      Barb 🙂

  13. I’m so sorry that you had such a rough week-I’m praying that this week will be so much better. Thank you so much for the feature this week-I’m truly grateful. Blessings to you.

    1. Hi Renae! I’m okay, it has been a really tough year with many, many, many changes to how we run things in our class at school. That’s been the tough part. But, I am happy to be home and it’s the weekend! 😉 Glad you enjoyed the feature!! <3 Enjoy your weekend!
      Hugs,
      Barb 🙂
